BEGINNERS: Never stop trying something new! February 2017 I’ve been quilting since 1988. Still I consider myself a novice. EVERY quilt I make feels like the first. I’m stilling learning. Every day. This quilt was made for my grand-daughter, Lizzie. I’ve never done one like it before. It turned out great and I think she’s […]
2017 Over the last six months or so I’ve made approx 7 baby quilts I’ve donated to my local quilt guild of which I’m a member. I don’t tell you this to brag. I tell you because I’m hoping you and/or your guild will do something similar. Our donation quilts go to the local Pregnancy […]
December 2016 My grand-nephew, Clayton, was born in June, 2016. He’s adorable! He just turned 1! For his first Christmas he received his “Birth Day” quilt from me, his Aunt Sissy. His nursery layette features alligators and crocodiles. So, I made this for him. My niece, his mommy Mekaela, has it hung on the wall […]
July 2016 In the summer of 2016, I realized that I had never made Aiden, my newest and youngest grandson, a quilt for his “birthday” like I had the other kids. Bad Grammy! So, with his 2nd (gasp) birthday coming up, I started one. I bought the fabric in Porterville, CA when we were there […]
November 2013 Made these two quilts sans patterns for my new niece and nephew (twins!) in 2013. Kaylee received the Victorian Crazy Quilt and Caleb the simpler, but just as adorable, modified four-patch. Instead of squares, the four-patch blocks were a little more rectangle.
July 2013 Baylie & David’s Christmas quilt. Another “no pattern” quilt. This was easy to make and lots of fun. It turned out beautifully and I’m very proud of it.
May 2013 I saw a picture on FB of a very similar pattern and fell in love with it. BUT, I could never find out what the name of the pattern was–the person who posted it, someone I did not know, would never answer my request for information. I don’t blame her. She didn’t know […]
February 2013 In 2000, while I was on medical leave from work (I had a brain tumor the size of a ping-pong ball taking up residence in my head), I did a lot–A LOT–of quilting. I made a quilt for every branch of my family. There were 8 or 9 all total that were given […]
May 2012 My niece, Mekaela, gave birth to my GRAND-niece in 2012. Mekaela asked for a handmade quilt. I decided to go with a Victorian Crazy Quilt. I was very pleased with how it turned out…although, in hindsight, I wish I’d gone with a softer yellow sashing.
