Over the last six months or so I’ve made approx 7 baby quilts I’ve donated to my local quilt guild of which I’m a member. I don’t tell you this to brag. I tell you because I’m hoping you and/or your guild will do something similar. Our donation quilts go to the local Pregnancy Aid Center. The mothers who make up the client list there are often single, young, and low on funds. When they find out they’re pregnant, they’re scared to death. There is SO much to buy and do to get ready for a baby! It can be overwhelming. When these young mothers come in to the Pregnancy Aid Center, the counselors there are able to give them, free of charge, one of the many beautiful quilts made by our guild (and others) and it’s often a huge relief. These mothers can mark at least one thing off their long lists of “get for the new baby”. Mine are usually very simple. Just blocks and sashing. They’re easy to make and quick to pull together. If you have some spare fabric and a little time, why don’t you create a quilt or two for a young mother in need? Look for Pregnancy Aid Centers, or Shelters for women and children or maybe even a food bank or a church you know could help you gift them to someone in need. Think about it. I know someone could be truly blessed by your efforts.
****RIGHT NOW, August 6, 2017 Houston Texas is in the recovery stages in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Florida, is about to be hit by Hurricane Irma. YOU CAN HELP! Do you have quilts hanging out in your cupboard you don’t know what to do with? People in Houston can use them! They’ve lost everything. Think about how much good it will do your heart to help them keep warm at night.*****
