In the summer of 2016, I realized that I had never made Aiden, my newest and youngest grandson, a quilt for his “birthday” like I had the other kids. Bad Grammy!
So, with his 2nd (gasp) birthday coming up, I started one.
I bought the fabric in Porterville, CA when we were there for another visit a few months into 2016. In April, I got started.
THEN…we made the decision to move home to Texas and in June of 2016, we started packing. I was determined to finish Aiden’s quilt despite the boxes. But…didn’t happen. I brought it with me to Texas.
FINALLY got it finished in November of 2016 a full 4 months after his 2nd birthday. Better late than never, though. This is the first blanket I’ve ever paid someone else to quilt. It’s just SO big. I couldn’t handle it. So my Johnson County Quilt Guild friend, Robyn Gotch, did the long arm quilting for me. The pattern is of little cars and trucks. Matches the fabric which features race cars. I love it!!
