Baby Quilt

BEGINNERS: Don’t be afraid to try something new, especially something simple!

April 2003
This quilt was the first I’d ever made without a pattern or instructions to follow. I was nervous. I began with a pre-printed panel, and then added several different border frames. When Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) I stippled the area around the pre-printed pictures so that when it was washed for the first time the pictures just “popped” right out! After the quilt was completed I did something else I had never done before (because no one told me I shouldn’t or couldn’t) I used the sewing machine to embroider the year “2003” on the corner of the quilt. I printed it first, on the fabric with a pencil and then just sewed straight-ish lines back and forth until it looked right. Silly, I know! But, it worked! It turned out very pretty and I was tickled pink.
