Review: The Erma Bombeck CollectionIf Life Is a Bowl of Cherries, What Am I Doing in the Pits?, Motherhood, and The Grass Is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank

5 Stars

By: Erma Bombeck

The first time I read an Erma Bombeck book…I was 12. It wasn’t exactly a “kid’s” book. But I loved it. Soon, I’d read just about every thing she had ever written–including newspaper articles. I found Erma fascinating.

She was funny in the extreme, but could also be heartwarming and even melancholy. It wasn’t long before I had decided that I wanted to grow up and being a writer just like her. Though I’ll never be as good as Erma…I’ve certainly tried my best to live up to her example.

I recently purchased this collection of her works in the digital form, so that she’s always near to hand–since my kindle is ALWAYS on my person.

I loved Erma–from afar–and I still miss her and her wonderful talent still today.
