First Trip Around the World

I did not quilt a thing between 1990 and 2000. However, in 2000 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a ping-pong ball and had to lay off work for almost a year. (Kept running into walls and driving over curbs.) In that year, I decided to try my hand at quilting again. I found a book by Eleanor Burns. The Quilt-in-a-Day the Trip Around the World Pattern. This was the first of the PING-PONG quilts. I made a lot of them that year. This I kept for myself. I hadn’t yet figured out how to quilt on the machine so I hand tied it with plain old red yarn.

"I'd like to think of myself as a blended mix of Southern charm and humor. What I really am is a hot mess of sin and sass. Jesus loves me either way."
